Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - More than half-a-million people played golf on Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail courses last year, making it Alabama’s No. 1 ranked tourist site among attractions that charge admission, according to the Alabama Tourism Department.
About 541,000 golfers played the RTJ trail last year, according to the survey, which consisted of figures released by local tourism organizations.
Montgomery’s Zoo was ninth on the list, behind RTJ with 185,833 visitors.
The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts was the second ranked free attraction in the state with 150,561 visitors. The Alabama Department of Archives & History in Montgomery was ninth with 36,269.
