Smiths woman charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of her husband

   On September 4, 2012, at approximately 11:25 AM/CST, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested Tiffany Danielle Andrews (26), of Smiths, at an address in the 1000 block of Galveston Street in Birmingham, Alabama  on an outstanding Manslaughter warrant issued through Lee County, Alabama.  On September 6, 2012, at approximately 3:45 PM/CST, Tiffany Andrews was additionally charged with Menacing and booked into the Lee County Detention Facility without incident.  She is currently being held on these two charges and a ($26, 000.00) Twenty Six Thousand Dollar bond.

Phenix City Attorney arrested for theft by deception relating to his law practice

Phenix City Attorney arrested for theft by deception relating to his law practice

On August 16, 2012, at approximately 4:18 PM/CST, the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested Phenix City Attorney Dana Posey Gentry (39) on (5) five outstanding FTA warrants and (1) one outstanding Theft of Property in the First Degree (by Deception) warrant.  The FTA warrants were issued by the Lee County Circuit Court's after Gentry failed to appear at an Arraignment Hearing that was set for July 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM/CST.  Gentry was arrested at his Phenix City, Lee County, Alabama home and was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility without incident.  He is being held on a Five Thousand Dollar Bond.

AG announces guilty plea for Clements in "Two-Year College Corruption Case"

            (MONTGOMERY)—Attorney General Luther Strange today announced the conviction of Jimmie Clements to Theft of Property in the First Degree.  Mr. Clements received a 15 year suspended sentence with 5 years probation.  He will pay $256,000 in restitution to the State of Alabama within 90 days from today as well as court costs, and $100.00 to the Victim’s Compensation Fund.  As part of the plea agreement, the companion case against Dana Clements was dismissed.

            In December of 2009, Mr. Clements and his wife Dana Clements, were each charged with 2 counts of first degree theft and were released from the Lee County Jail on $20,000 bail each, according to jail records.  At today’s plea, the State offered to the Court the following explanation of the crime:
