Lee Co. Sheriff's Office arrests theft suspect after chase

     On October 31, 2012, the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested Anthony Joshua James (35) of Phenix City, on one count of Burglary in the Third Degree, one count of Theft of Property in the First Degree, one count of Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, and one outstanding warrant for Failure To Pay.  James is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on a ($9,000.00) nine thousand dollar bond and the no bond FTA warrant.  These charges stem from the following event:

On Sunday, October 28, 2012 the Auburn Police Division arrested Samtorio J. Barnett, age 24, of Salem, Alabama, on warrants charging him with Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle and Theft of Property 3rd Degree. 

His arrest stems from the investigation of a police report dated October 21, 2012 in which the victim stated that someone stole cash from inside her vehicle while it was parked at a residence located in the 7000 block of Lee Road 54. 

Barnett was transported to the Lee County Detention Center where his bond was set at $4,000.

Police find property from two home burglaries in suspect car

On Friday, October 26, 2012 the Auburn Police Division arrested Bernard Pierson, age 36, and Desi D. Drisker, age 20, both of Auburn and charged each of them with two counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft of Property 2nd Degree, Theft of Property 3rd Degree, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools.  Their arrests stem from the investigation of a suspicious vehicle complaint called in to police by an alert citizen.  Patrol officers responding to the area stopped the vehicle in the 2000 block of Wire Road and contacted its occupants identified as Pierson and Drisker.  Property stolen earlier in the day from homes located in the 2700 block of Lee Road 12 and 400 block of Taleeda Court was recovered from inside the vehicle.

Lee County Correctional Officer arrested for promoting prison contraband

OPELIKA, AL - Over the past two months, the Lee County Sheriff's Office has been conducting an internal investigation regarding the introduction of contraband into the Lee County Detention Center. 

As a result of the on-going investigation, a former Lee County Correctional Officer was arrested on October 23, 2012 and charged with one count of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Class B Felony) and one count of Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree (Class C Felony). 

Former Correctional Officer, Dequinn Cortez Wright, 30, of Opelika, was arrested at approximately 12:50 PM Tuesday afternoon. 

Wright had been employed with the Lee County Sheriff's Office for approximately ten years.

He posted a $10,500 bond and has been released from Lee County Detention Center.
